Seen from the rear on September 20th 2021. The emblem on the bunker is that of the once independent Garstang & Knott End Railway, which finally closed on 16th August 1965, having lost its passenger services as long ago as July 1930. The loco, of course, has nothing to do with the lost railway, having worked in the South Wales coalfield.

A close up of the left hand outside cylinder without its cladding as displayed at Pilling. The design of this type of industrial loco did not change much throughout the 20th century.

The name plate refers to the nickname of the trains along the line. The story goes that one of the early locos had such a piercing whistle that it was likened to the squealing of a pig. On what was a railway with a largely agricultural traffic, this is understandable. The name was applied when the loco was displayed at Pilling.
