In 2018 the frames of this London & South Western Railway class S15 were in the workshop undergoing restoration.

A second photo in 2018showing the frames looking towards the front of the loco whist under restoration. As the photo shows this will be a comprehensive nut and bolt restoration job.

Elsewhere, a new smokebox was under construction in 2018.

Notice on 30499's new tender tank about the history of tenders for S15 locos. 30506 is based on the Mid Hants Railway and 30825 on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway.

On 27th April 2024, the loco was still under restoration in the yard at Ropley on the Mid Hants Railway, although it is not so easy to tell there's a locomotive under here!
