The driving wheel sets seen whilst the loco was under overhaul at the Midland Railway - Butterley on 18th April 2026. The leading axle is the crank axle for the inside cylinders, whilst the outside cylinders drive on the centre axle. This divided drive arrangement came with William Stanier when he moved from the Great Western Railway at Swindon to the London Midland and Scottish Railway.
