Walschaerts valve gear. Note the twin sand boxes on top of the boiler - an unusual location on UK locos.

A single eccentric between the frames seems to drive a feedwater pump. Interestingly, there is only one clack valve on the boiler - on the left hand side and no sign of injectors. Unusual on a loco built in 1898.
