A view of 'Repulse' from the footbridge at Haverthwaite. Notice the Giesl ejector chimney fitted to this loco. This exhaust system was not used much in the UK, but the Coal Board did fit some locos with it.

Giesl equipped 'Austerity' tank loco 'Repulse' shows off its classic lines in Haverthwaite yard.

With the saddle tank removed, the Giesl ejector can be seen more fully.

The Geisl ejector exhaust fitted to 'Repulse' seen whilst under overhaul at Haverthwaite on 19th September 2024. This is a rare opportunity to see the ejector exhaust in full.

The valve spindles of the Stephenson link valve gear between the frames of 'Repulse' seen whilst under overhaul at Haverthwaite on 19th September 2024. The slide valves are mounted back to back on the right of the photo. top and bottom in the photo are the slide bars for the inside cylinders. You can just see the little end of the left had connecting rod.
