A view of 'Repulse' from the footbridge at Haverthwaite. Notice the Giesl ejector chimney fitted to this loco. This exhaust system was not used much in the UK, but the Coal Board did fit some locos with it.

The valve spindles of the Stephenson link valve gear between the frames of 'Repulse' seen whilst under overhaul at Haverthwaite on 19th September 2024. The slide valves are mounted back to back on the right of the photo. top and bottom in the photo are the slide bars for the inside cylinders. You can just see the little end of the left had connecting rod.
