This photo is from 25th August 2018 and shows the point in the construction that has been reached. Well, it doesn't really do justice to the work they've been doing. The expensive crank axle is being made, the second set of driving wheels is on site, and the boiler and other parts are there. See the other photos.

This photo from 25th August 2018 shows the loco from the rear end. The rear bogie is complete and fitted and the bunker and cab rear plate can be seen on the left. There's a glimpse of the boiler on the right.

The boiler was the first major component to be completed. It is built to modern standards with a welded barrel unlike the original locos which had a riveted design. It will be kept stored dry until the rest of the loco is completed

The rear bogie of this 0-4-4 loco which is built to the original North Eastern Railway drawings. Another early component to be built. Seen as displayed at Locomotion, Shildon in 2011.

The leading coupled wheels are seen in front of the loco. They have their tyres fitted as you can see and are ready to install once the second axle and wheel set is complete. Other components visible are the four sets of steps for the loco. 25th August 2018.

A visit in June 2020 revealed lots of components have been completed for the loco. In this shot, the four springs for the diving axles, the coupling rods, two mechanical lubricators, the pistons, piston rods, piston rod guides and crosshead bodies can be seen.
