A close up photo of the inclined cylinders. This feature appeared on 'Rocket' as well, but driving the leading axle rather than the rear axle as is the case with 'Invicta'. Notice the drive links from the rear axle's eccentrics to the valve on top of the cylinder.

Another view of the mechanism. Notice the bell crank in the rather complex links to the slide valve. The mannequin of the driver has its hand on the throttle with the link to the valve on the dome.

The wheel of the leading axle. Notice that this is a cast iron item with typical spokes of the era. Notice, too that the loco has a simple bar frame chassis with leaf spring suspension. This was quite an advance on earlier Stephenson designs.
