The Bluebell Railway is a 11 mile heritage line almost entirely in West Sussex in England, except for Sheffield Park which is in East Sussex. It is managed by the Bluebell Railway Preservation Society. The Bluebell Railway has the largest collection of Southern steam locomotives in the UK and is one of the top 10 tourist attractions in East Sussex.
The aim of this project is to rebuild BR Standard Class 2MT 4-6-0 No.78059 into a representative of the 2MT 2-6-2T tank engine version of the class next in line No. 84030. For use on the Bluebell and other heritage railways around the UK.
