Maps and steamlocomotive.info

Postby Doug Bailey » Wed Jan 04, 2017 6:28 pm

For about three or four years, steamlocomotive.info has had the ability to generate an interactive map of the location of a locomotive (if we knew it). The interface worked, was kind of clunky, and somewhat difficult to use. We've begun a complete rewrite of that mapping system, and its administrative interface. Some parts of it are already working, others will be along by the end of this weekend. I'll be posting both here, and on the site's blog explaining what has been done, how you can use the new interface, and to solicit suggestions for further improvements in this feature. Watch this thread for more information.

Worked most of the day today on two things:

  • Creating a page to collect and report (automatically) mapping errors.
  • Improve the display and user interface for maps
