John West has kindly given us permission to use his photographs on steamlocomotive.info. Below is an August 1972 photo of a meter gauge 2-6-6-2 in Brazil. John's comments about this photo:

It is still early in the morning as EF Dona Teresa Christina (EFDTC) 1950 built Baldwin 2-6-6-2 No. 204 waits for its train to be loaded, while Lauro Mueller Mine 26 4-6-0 Alco 1920 shunts cars on the high line to the gravity loading arrangement. A year or two after this picture was taken a huge flood devastated the area, and although other parts of this meter gauge railroad reopened, this steeply graded branch was never rebuilt, and the 2-6-6-2's where set aside. Note the American style class lights of the front of the 204.

For almost as long as I've run this website, I've wondered why none of the visitors to the Northwest Railway Museum in Snoqualmie ever submitted a photo of this locomotive. It finally happened: Mike Corpolongo contributed a photo of this locomotive this morning and I'd like to thank Mike, and to call your attention to this little locomotive. Here it is:

Herbert Ortner, noted Austrian railroad photographer released the image below of 0-10-0T Kh.101, a 760mm gauge steam locomotive, under the GNU Free Documentation License Version 1.2. I found it interesting in that it is the only steam locomotive I've seen where some of the drivers are outside the frame, and one set is inside. Examining the rearmost set of drivers will show how this was done.

Thanks to the kind permission of Frank Destouesse, we're able to display this photo of Minaz 2-6-0 No. 1406, a 1905 Baldwin product now refurbished and displayed as a monument at Gregoria Arlee Manalich Sugar Mill in Melena del Sur, Cuba.
