Pioneer Tunnel Locomotives

Jeff Terry, our Editor-at-Large recently visited Pioneer Tunnel in Ashland, PA and provided updated photos of the two locomotives which reside there, both ex-Lehigh Valley Coal Co. No. 123, also known as Henry Clay No. 1 is now the operational locomotive, while No. 119, (Henry Clay No. 2) is stored serviceable, not having steamed since 2002.

Wissota Sand & Gravel No. 2

For years Wissota Sand & Gravel No. 2, a Porter 0-4-0T, has been displayed in an enclosure at a petting zoo in Chippewa Falls, WI. Jeff Terry recently visited and contributed the image shown below:

Here's what Jeff had to say about this locomotive in his email accompanying the photo:

I was in Chippewa yesterday and stopped by the park to see what has been going on with their 0-4-0T. I heard recently that it was going to be moved (if you remember, it was housed it its own private building, and was totally complete - right down to its gauges and whistle.) I discovered that the building is gone, and the engine has been moved out into the open in a different area of the park. It has been stripped of pretty much everything, including its injectors, gauges, whistle, and spot plate. Only the builders plates are left intact (how long do you think they'll last). I hope this stuff was removed for safe keeping and not stolen! I have attached a current photo for you to use on the web site.
